The Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported 214  measles cases during the past week- 110 adults and 104 children. From 19 to 26 July the most new cases of measles were registered in Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Odessa and Vinnitsa oblasts.

Since the beginning of the year, 56,594 total cases have been reported, including 18 deaths.

Health officials remind the public that these illnesses always drop during the summer months, only to return in higher numbers in September. Hence, they are calling on the public to get vaccinated.

For reliable protection against illness, all children should receive both the first and second doses of the measles vaccine on time. The Ministry of Health encourages everyone to follow the Vaccination Calendar and catch up with vaccinations as soon as possible if they miss a routine vaccination.

Vaccinations on the Calendar are a must to attend preschools and schools. The lawfulness of this requirement was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Ukraine in the Resolution.
