Biography

Anna is a Medical Anthropologist and Research Fellow at LSHTM. She is currently leading The Lancet-LSHTM Commission work on the Emotional Determinants of Health.

Her other work includes contributing to the development of a global index on pandemic preparedness and resilience, a UNICEF project on routine immunisation in the ECARO region, and training on online misinformation for the European Centre of Disease Control. She also teaches on the MSc Public Health course at LSHTM.

Previously, Anna worked in the Department of Global Health and Development, investigating the spread of antimicrobial resistance in Thailand and Uganda, and as a researcher in patient experience. Her research has focussed on the phenomenology of ‘contested illnesses’, and the nature of evidence in health and medicine. She has an MSc in Medical Anthropology from Oxford University, and a BA in Biological and Social Anthropology from Cambridge University.
