Biography

Ed is a Research Fellow at the Vaccine Confidence Project. He joined the team in 2020, having previously been an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the London School of Economics.

Ed works at the intersection of political sociology, digital sociology and health sociology, combining qualitative research methods with analysis of digital “big data” to investigate how movements promoting reactionary politics and antiscience mobilise both online and offline.

His current research interests include the relationship between social media use and vaccine attitudes; right-wing digital ecosystems and alternative media platforms; uses and ethics of AI in the vaccine field; and violence against science and technology personnel and infrastructure in the context of COVID-19. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics.
