Vaccine confidence in Australia is high* compared to other countries. The latest data we have for Australia is from surveys conducted in 2023, which showed that 77% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 80% think they are effective. 80% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 75% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.

Confidence in vaccines in Australia has decreased since the first surveys carried out there. In 2015, average vaccine confidence was very high*. 90% of people felt that vaccines were safe and 92% thought they were effective. 93% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines.
