The latest data we have for South Africa is from surveys conducted in 2022 which showed that 72% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 73% think they are effective. 63% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 63% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.

Confidence in vaccines in South Africa has declined since the first surveys carried out there. In 2015, 85% of people felt that vaccines were safe while 86% thought they were effective. 90% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines and 72% felt that vaccines were compatible with their religious beliefs.
