Vaccine confidence in Sierra Leone is high* compared to other countries. The latest data we have for Sierra Leone is from surveys conducted in 2023, which showed that 88% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 83% think they are effective. 83% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 73% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.
Confidence in vaccines in Sierra Leone has decreased since the first surveys carried out there. In 2018, average vaccine confidence was high*. 82% of people felt that vaccines were safe and 83% thought they were effective. 87% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines.
