Vaccine confidence in Afghanistan is very high* compared to other countries. The latest data we have for Afghanistan is from surveys conducted in 2019, which showed that 86% of people feel that vaccines are safe and 89% think they are effective. 93% of those surveyed said they believe it’s important for children to have vaccines and 80% feel that vaccines are compatible with their religious beliefs.
Confidence in vaccines in Afghanistan has decreased since the first surveys carried out there. In 2015, average vaccine confidence was very high*. 90% of people felt that vaccines were safe and 93% thought they were effective. 96% said they believed it was important for children to have vaccines.
